Our Services Therapy Offerings Appreciative Inquiry What is Appreciative Inquiry? The four D's

According to Cooperrider and Whitney there are four stages of appreciative inquiry as outlined below:

  • Discovery. A purposeful and positive examination and observation of what is hoped for.
  • Dream. A) Visioning what's possible (not what's wrong), B) examining the greater purpose, and C) coming up with a blueprint relating to one's dream.  "What are we being called to do, become, share, develop, and for what purpose? What is it that we value? How do we see this as coming into reality?  What is our role in the process, and how do we really wish to be involved? What is our strategic plan? Where have we been successful in the past and how can we build upong that? If we were to write one paragraph or sentence relating to this vision, what would it say?
  • Design. Strategizing ways to realize the dream, seeing beyond the obstacles and barriers and into what could be. How can every member of our family, team, or organization feel a sense of empowerment and rise to their potential in making our dream a reality?
  • Destiny. Rallying hope and insight into the newfound possibilities, dream, and purpose realized through appreciative inquiry.
